Health Care Delivery System Throughout The United States

Health Care Delivery System in the United States Healthcare is a hot topic for all Americans and everyone has their own views on how the healthcare system should run. This includes the public and the politicians. Today we are going to address issues in the United States healthcare system including access to care for both physical and financial reasons, how payment for care runs the industry, and quality of care in the aspects of internal factors including: public insurance plans, and private insurance, as well as the external factor of the economy. With the United States population living longer and the Baby boomers retiring there is a shortage of providers and provider appointments to meet the needs of all patients. As far as financial issues for access to health care are concerned, according to the CDC (2013), children gaining access to health care at about the same rate across the board with only a large difference with access in families that have private insurance at .8 compared to 2.9 for uninsured and 2.3 for public insurance. According to Leininger and Levy (2015), there are many issues affecting access to care for children. One of them is the overall cost of care. There was a study done called the RAND Health Insurance Experiment (HIE) showing that for the level of income and type of insurance including cost of co-pays, it does not affect over all health of the children until it comes to dental care. The children who have free insurance with no co-pays over all had properly filled teeth no decay and no missing teeth with the rate of proper care at .19 teeth compared to .44 teeth for children who’s families had to pay in some way for dental care. A way of making sure that all children have access to health care are the programs that were put in place in 2010 by congress to largely expand public health insurance and currently the Affordable Care Act that was designed to make health insu rance affordable for all people.
